Transcript

CalTheUntitled asks:
We've seen that children of two different species can be a hybrid of their parents, but what happens if one of their parents is a hybrid? Is it possible for someone to be a hybrid of many species?

CALLIE: That's a great question! One of my favorite things about hosting the festival in Treehollow last year was getting to meet so many diverse creatures!

CALLIE: When two creatures procreate, their offspring will primarily display traits of one of the two parents.
CALLIE: If a skunk with only skunk ancestors has a kit with a wolf with only wolf ancestors, the child will have a 50/50 shot of presenting as one or the other... Give or take a few traits.

MARIE: Like me! My mum's a wolf so I have an extra fluffy tail, and bigger ears, and a different kind of muzzle from most skunks!
TESS: My pa was a bear. My mum was a badger. You do the math.

CALLIE: Although any given creature is likely a mix of species, for ease, we often just call them by their most prominent one.
CALLIE: Of course, this gets complicated when multiple species are heavily expressed in one creature. But we do our best!

CALLIE: If one parent is already a hybrid and the other a single species, then the kit is more likely to primarily express as the single-species parent.
CALLIE: Though they will also likely present with traits from the mixed parents as well!

OAKEWOOD: Well, there's quite a bit more to it than that.

CALLIE: Oakewood, this is the first lesson! Let's start them off with the basic concepts first, shall we?

OAKEWOOD: You're just saying that because the authors haven't fully mapped this out, aren't you?
CALLIE: NEXT QUESTION!!!

CalTheUntitled demande :

CALLIE : QUESTION SUIVANTE !!!
